Help me give my students the opportunity to learn how to plant and grow vegetables, fruit, herbs, etc. to be able to eat healthily. We need potting mix and seed starter trays.

Celebrating Black History Month

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

This farm will allow these students the chance to learn how farm-to-table works. The school is in a poverty-stricken area that also is in the middle of a food desert. There is a high number of homelessness in the school, so the need to able to give them proper meals is a necessity. The students will learn how to start the garden from scratch by putting together the raised gardens that we already have received. The seed soil and seeds and the starter kits will be used to start the garden inside the school. Students will learn responsibility by watering and feeding the seeds, and making sure they get proper sunlight. They will be able to see the progression from seeds to produce, and also to a meal with a few steps. The students are looking forward to the opportunity to learn and have their own garden to be able to take the items home and help with healthy groceries for their families' nourishment.
