Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project is inspired by a grant our school received to create an urban garden. In addition to our outdoor crops, we would love to be able to have an indoor hydroponic system that the children can learn and explore with.

Not only will having a hydroponic grow system put our students in touch with the most current trend in agriculture, it will allow some of our differently able bodied students to take part in our schoolwide gardening initiative.

The funding of this project will cover the initial set up of the system, grow pods, and food. Thirty percent of the crops harvested from the system are earmarked to be sent to the community foodbank.
