Farewell Fabulous Fifth Graders 2021

Help me give my students healthy snacks, fidget spinners, and sunglasses for our end of the year class celebration.

My Students

As of February 2021 I began to teach fifth grade children in the inner city of one of Chicago's most challenging neighborhoods on the south side. I currently have twenty-two fifth graders this school year.

My students are hard workers and are eager to learn; Their level of tech-savviness continues to amaze and inspire me during these trying times of the Covid Pandemic.

I also teach an after-school program to first and second grade girls called "Sistas of STEM" and an after-school program "Number Ninjas" for primary grade students. Both programs were developed by me.

My Project

This year I started out with the best group of first graders any teacher could hope to work with. Due to the pandemic, a significant drop in enrollment at my school, and several teachers at my school going on extended leave of absences, I was moved from my first grade class to a fifth grade classroom during the second semester of this school year. I had not taught fifth grade since my first year of teaching which was in 1992! With all of that being said, the end of the school year 2020-2021 is fast approaching! The materials I am requesting are for a healthy snack, end of the year celebration for my fifth grade class. Classroom celebrations are permitted at my school as long as healthy snacks are consumed by the children.

My current class of fifth graders have worked hard during the past few months.

They deserve to have a celebration for the end of the school year. They have had a tough time losing one teacher that they had bonded with, and gaining another teacher for the last semester of the year.
