This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach some amazing students at an extended year school in Washington, D.C. Over the last year my students have shown me how innovative they are as well as resilient. These inner city students have high aspirations and are enthusiastic about making their impact on the world in a positive way.

My students are some of the most creative young ladies and gentlemen that I have had the pleasure of teaching, and they display extreme interest when they are highly engaged in the classroom through various media representations and when their lesson format connects to their real-world experiences.

My Project

It is important that we integrate reading into our math curriculum as much as possible. Scholastic math magazines provide relevant and high interest articles that our students love to read. They also provide a plethora of online resources for the teacher to utilize in order to enhance the learning experience.

High engagement using relevant topics, plus academic standards is the scholastic way!

Using Scholastic magazines in the classroom allow students to practice math skills that are in alignment with the common core standards as well as increase their vocabulary and reading comprehension skills. With Scholastic, students get the best of both worlds.
