My Students
My class is a diverse group of students who are from different socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. My students are ready to learn. My classroom library is one part of the learning environment that fosters student engagement. Reading is an integral part of comprehension and fluency.
They are intelligent and curious and ready to learn.
The students' natural curiosity leads them to acquire new skills. They are like little sponges that take everything in. New books will be an exciting and appreciated addition to my classroom.
My Project
A good book is something a student can not put down. A good book set keeps the student reading while building important English Language skills. Some of these skills that are important to First Grade are comprehension and fluency.
Once students are hooked on books they begin to read for enjoyment and truly become readers.
They practice skills effortlessly. The process of reading accelerated and they are able to master their grade level goals and move beyond.
A classroom library rich in books and choices facilitates reading. The students know that reading is valued. Books become a exciting way to learn.
