Famous Artists with Little Artists!

Help me give my students various colors of watercolor paint and black crayons to create Paul Klee inspired abstract cityscapes.

My Project

Through this project, my students will be learning about the famous artist Paul Klee. This lesson will be introduced through a brief powerpoint that discusses the background of Paul Klee as well as his style (abstract art). We will discuss what a cityscape is, view images of artwork by Paul Klee, and discuss how he used geometric shapes and color in his artwork. This lesson will also incorporate literacy. We will read the book, "The Cat and the Bird" by Geraldine Elschner (a children's book inspired by Paul Klee). Students will then have the opportunity to create their very own Paul Klee inspired cityscape painting with the requested watercolor paper, black permanent markers, and watercolor paint.

Students will learn so much from this particular art project.

This is one of my favorite projects. My students always blow me away with these masterpieces!
