Family Time is the Best Time

My students need an Osmo Genius/Coding kit along with an IPad mini to interact with their family at home.

My Students

Our class consists of sweet, creative, and active 6 and 7 year old students who come to school excited about learning. My first graders love to move around and love when a wide variety of technology is incorporated into their daily instruction.

Each day I strive to make learning rigorous yet captivating in a positive learning environment.

I love the enthusiasm first graders bring to school and hope to create life long learners who have only positive memories from their school days.

My Project

Technology is moving at a fast rate. It is difficult for parents to keep up with the new terminology and experience how technology is integrated into daily instruction. In a high poverty school, some parents may not have the resources to witness their child interacting/learning with newer technology.

If awarded the Osmo Genius/Coding set with an IPad mini, students will be able to bring educational technology home and "teach" their parents the new technology terminology as well as add a new spin to family time.

For example, learning to code is something many parents are unfamiliar with. Speaking from experience, when I first heard of coding I had no idea what it was and where to begin teaching my students about it. When my daughter started using her Osmo coding kit at home, we were able to learn about coding together. It was fun to learn something new together as well as better ourselves with this skill needed for the future.

My students will benefit in many ways from the Osmo kits. Not only will they be able to code at home with their parents, they can practice math, spelling, and geometry. Their parents will be able to interact with them by playing the games and hopefully make some fun memories.
