This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are amazing lovers of learning. As the oldest in the school, they strive to be the leaders we know they can be. As leaders of the school climate and culture, they are admired by the rest of the students.
My students range in age from 10 to 12, and they are primarily African-American children who come from low socioeconomic homes.
All of my students receive free lunch and breakfast.
Despite many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day.
My Project
I am hoping that the family math games are a way to incorporate fun into "homework." Who says math homework has to be worksheets? I have always made an effort to include my parents in their child's learning, but sometimes it can be difficult for the parent to engage in a boring workbook page. The math family game kits are a fun way to get all of the family involved in student learning.
Not only are the games fun and engaging, they reinforce skills that my students need to be successful.
I am hoping to use the games as a type of homework that just might make math for fun for everyone.
