This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are in a 12:1:1 classroom. They have been together for 5 years and are getting ready to graduate from elementary school next year. My students are all learning disabled, but are full of energy and excitement. They are well-behaved and love science and math. Our school is a Title I school with every student receiving free lunch.
Learning disabilities do not keep my students from achieving their goals.
They work extra hard to keep up, and they enjoy learning new topics.
My Project
My 12:1:1 students LOVE science and LOVE board games. I would like to create family game night bins for my special education students to enjoy with their family. These bins would include Makey Makey sets that turn ordinary objects into inventions and a Melissa and Doug family Suspend game. Makey Makey sets integrate coding within science, including lesson plans for classroom extensions.
Students can share their love of STEM with their families.
STEM is the most popular program amongst our 12:1:1 program. My students are always so excited to participate and can now share this excitement and knowledge with their parents.
