Family Fun with Skip Bo

Help me give my students fun number sense practice with family involvement through playing the card game, Skip Bo.

My Students

Our school is a small K-8 school in the heart of the Central Valley of California. We are surrounded by dairies and farms just outside of our little town!

Being a small school brings such a unique experience to our students, as we have a family atmosphere!

We are able to bring older students together with younger students in ways most schools are unable to do. It really works to bring about a community of learners rather than just a bunch of people attending the same place.

My Project

Skip Bo is a card game that helps reinforce counting skills and ordinality. The object is to clear your personal deck of cards while counting upwards in sequence from 1 to 12. You continue to do this until someone is the first out of cards.

The Skip Bo games I have requested would be a great addition for students working on number sense while encouraging family involvement through a family game night.

Once the basic concept of the game is mastered, kids can begin building strategy skills as well as they work to block opponents by playing (or not playing) certain cards.

A huge goal I have is to help families discover ways to come together, unplug, and enjoy family time again!
