Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Families and teachers partner to develop each student's knowledge base. We work together to help our young scholars. Family engagement opportunities are held every month. These opportunities are always better attended when food and drink are involved.
Families, students, and teachers all work together so that students get the best education possible.
Many scholars have food insecurities, and their families may also have them. Providing beverages and snacks at our family engagement opportunities is a way to support families and fill bellies simultaneously.
During these engagement opportunities, families gather with teachers and students to learn various ways to work with the students at home. As educators, we prepare learning games for the families. Then, when families come in, we teach them how to play the games with their scholars. At each event, we have interpreters so that families understand each game.
