Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are so sweet and amazing! They are all unique in their own special way. They attend a Chicago public school. They come to school enthusiastic to learn new things. Their parents want to be part of their education and are always offering their time to volunteer. Partnering up with families has become a goal of mine because it makes a difference. As their teacher, I want to teach them that education breaks barriers. I also want them to have as many learning experiences as possible in a positive, safe, and welcoming environment. Thank you for considering our project.
My Project
Do you remember how your family was engaged in your learning? My students need help in engaging their families in their learning. Can you imagine the impact it can have in a child's future?
I want to provide opportunities for families to engage in their child's learning by providing them with reusable STEM take-home kits!
My students will solve problems just like real engineers! Families will have to complete a hands-on activity that introduces an exciting engineering occupation. They will take home a pack with a STEM career brochure, with a challenge card and simple instructions in English and Spanish. My students will develop skills in problem solving, perseverance, cause and effect, engineering practices, and the design process. This will be so exciting for them and will engage their parents, sisters, brothers and grandparents in their learning!
