Family Engagement During Stressful Times!

My Students

Our community is experiencing a high level of poverty. Students are homeless and struggling in school. I teach the special education, autism, life skills program. Some of the children I work with are very intelligent, but struggle with being in the classroom and the typical school experience. Other children have significant delays and are learning life skills.

This year the children really want to learn something new.

We are now doing distance education. This is hard for all students, especially those with special needs.

My Project

I want to send all my students family engagement kits for math and writing. They would be so excited to receive the materials. This would help parents understand that teaching can happen naturally when they are engaging with their children. They can have fun together and their child is learning so much from them!

Right now our parents are stressed and overwhelmed!

I need to help remind them to have fun and enjoy spending time together. It is not about the work completion, it is about building a love for learning! In these times we need to embrace families and help reduce stress.
