Fall Tip Off Basketball Tournament

Help me give my students a varsity basketball tournament for the boys varsity team.

My Students

The students at my school come from an underprivileged neighborhood where one hundred percent of them receive free or reduced-price lunch. Violence and negligence are daily occurrences in our neighborhood, yet they come to school each day determined to succeed. My students do not have much, and our athletic programs have even less. My players come to practice every day and display resilience and an attitude to succeed. They inspire me each and every day to push them harder toward their dreams. Your help will make our players feel good and represent our school well when we travel to and compete against, the schools in our league!

My Project

Playing makes a huge difference to the student-athletes who are on our Boys Varsity basketball team. It allows our team to bond with one another and it allows the boys to work on their skills all summer like the professional athletes they admire. Camaraderie increased teamwork, and improved play is just a few of the benefits of playing in summer tournaments, and added college exposure opportunities as well. The team has played every summer and enjoyed great success on and off the court during those seasons. We are hoping to go again this year.

After the trip is completed, our players come back home with a better understanding of their teammates and coaches.

This understanding often springboards us into a more successful season, both on and off the court. This project will pay for entry fees for students who could not afford the trip on their own. We are hoping to cover their expenses to create an experience for the entire Boys Basketball team that everyone will remember.
