How can we close the achievement gap without necessary materials to succeed? According to state testing results, students with disabilities perform the lowest in our district.
The students in my classroom are students with a variety of disabilities that range from Autism Spectrum Disorder to Specific Learning Disabilities.
Many of my students are struggling with multiplication fact fluency and this negatively impacts their ability to succeed on state testing and in their regular classes. A typical student in my classroom is performing on a 2nd grade level when it comes to mathematics. Some students are able to perform on a 3rd grade level and others are performing on a Kindergarten level. I want my students to be able to close their learning gaps and succeed in their academics with confidence. My students are very hard working and would love a chance to show others how they can succeed!
My Project
We are requesting a new Chromebook which will allow my students to have a laptop on hand to work on their fact fluency during their instructional time. Many of my students struggle with multiplication facts and love working on Reflex Math but we do not have enough computers for them. My student love working on computers and always look forward to being able to do any kind of activity of one. A new laptop will give a student the opportunity to work on the program and enjoy all the program has to offer while learning in a fun way! They will be so excited if we are able to get a new laptop for our classroom!
