My Students

My students are inquisitive, joyful, and busy! They love working together to solve problems and are constantly looking for ways to improve. They take pride in making progress and love trying new things. I am constantly amazed by the connections they make to their life and the world around them.

After 2 years of hybrid and remote learning, my students are thrilled to be working together as a class and they show this through their critical thinking, perseverance, and kindness toward each other.

As we say during our student-created class mission statement each morning, "Most importantly, we do this together!" My students have truly shown how important it is to help each other when life gets tough!

My Project

As I started this school year, I was excited for the opportunity to be with my students full-time! However, I quickly learned that we had a lot of catching up to do! My students haven't had a regular school year since first grade. Now as fourth graders their math fact fluency isn't quite where it should be and they sometimes have a hard time sitting in a desk all day! We have used many strategies in class to improve our recall of basic facts, but I would love students to have opportunities to engage in independent fact practice in our classroom and have seating options that help them focus!

By using flexible seating and having choices for practicing fact fluency independently, my students will have more autonomy as they engage in learning!

These materials will be used daily to help students improve their basic math skills. I look forward to seeing even more growth in my students!
