My students need 24 music stands and 1 storage cart for their music so that they may produce a healthy, vibrant sound.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The school I am privileged to work at is located on the edge town near orchards and rolling hills. These students arrive at school despite a variety of hardships. Not only are my students incredibly talented, but they are wonderful friends. Their drive to sing their best encourages me daily.
We sing to lift one another, to spread joy, and to remind ourselves that we are stronger together than alone.
The students in the choir program perform each quarter, sing at rallies, sporting events, and community events. The administration often calls on the choirs to perform for a variety of school and district events. Students also perform at county wide choir festivals. Their willingness to perform no matter the circumstance is remarkable.
While balancing athletics, music, and academics, students are preparing for a lifelong commitment to sing, community participation, and the ability to balance family and work.
My Project
The choir members at our school do not have any music stands. In daily rehearsals students are asked to stand and sing. It is a challenge to hold music up while focusing on their posture and breathing. Without good posture and breath support, students are unable to create a good vocal onset.
Music stands would allow students to stand and sing with excellent posture, breath support and optimal vocal technique.
This generous gift would be used daily during all six periods of choir. Having music stands and a storage cart would help build confidence during rehearsal and would teach correct posture that will fluidly transfer to their performance on stage.
