This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students live in an impoverished area of South Los Angeles. All of my students come from low-income families. We are a Title I school where ninety-nine percent of our students receive free meals. My students always try their best at everything and anything, despite the challenges that they face in their daily lives.
They are already not expected to have it as easy as others, but we learn that with hard work and consistency, they can be "unique" or different from the rest.
My students are so eager to learn, that it makes coming to work easy!
My Project
The last eighteen months have definitely been unprecedented times for my students due to the pandemic! But we're all so grateful to be back in the classroom. In order to stay out of quarantine, students and staff need to maintain safety measures.
In order to stay safe in the classroom, students need to wear their masks; these colorful masks will inspire compliance in our classroom.
Students are having a hard time shifting to the new normal of wearing masks in class, and having masks they think are attractive can increase the rate of success.
