My Students
I teach a diverse group of student whom have special needs. They range in their abilities and needs, as well as their grades (ranging from 3rd-5th). This year I am very excited as I will be able to work with them in both reading and math.
My students disabilities range from Autism to ADHD, as well as many others and they learn in various different ways.
In order to reach my diverse learners, I am constantly differentiating lessons within the whole group and small group settings and finding new and exciting ways to reach them.
My Project
One main goal I have for my students for the upcoming year is to increase their reading and math fluency. In both of these subjects that will look very different. I have a lot of materials to work on math fact fluency, but find that I am lacking older elementary reading fluency activities.
The activities that I am asking for in this proposal will help my students in both small groups and the whole class work on reading fluency in many different ways.
They will be able to time themselves, create their own challenges, find ownership in their work and work with a partner. All of these are very important skills, while also working on their specific Individual Educational Plans.
