My Students

We are a Title I all girls' school located in the inner city of Houston, TX. Over ninety six percent of my students come from low income households. My students are inquisitive and hard working with an immense thirst for knowledge. They strive for academic achievement in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics as well as Arts & Humanities and Multidisciplinary Studies. Their overall goal is to be college ready upon graduation.

Being at an all girls' school, my students are often presented with opportunities they would otherwise not receive.

They have the drive, and they put forth the effort to achieve their goals.They are often pushed to achieve in areas that are most often dominated by men.

Even though a large portion of my students come from low income households, they do not allow obstacles to determine their future.

My Project

My students enjoy reading, and as young women of color, they have a strong thirst for knowledge and understanding of Social Justice and where they fit in. These e-books will provide my students with insight into the hierarchy of life, ultimately, enhancing their understanding of the systems that help to create everyday operations.

My students will read the e-books, conduct research and participate in multiple virtual discussions highlighting how various details fit into their everyday life and the lives of people they know.

The selected e-books will provide my students with multiple points of view.
