I teach preschool for a public school in Michigan. This is my second year teaching in my school district. Our preschool has a Highscope curriculum and we are a GSRP program which means we are state-funded. I do not get a classroom stipend to spend on items for the classroom each year. These children qualify for the GSRP preschool because they have factors that deem them to be at risk for success. These children have very stressful lives at home and need their classroom to be a safe, warm, and friendly place to come learn and play.
My students take a nap in my preschool classroom every day. Our school was gifted a washer and dryer for us to wash their bedsheets once a week. We are ever so grateful to have a washer and dryer at school; but the laundry detergent, fabric softener and dryer sheets are very expensive.
Most of our families have very hard financial situations at home and cannot afford to wash their bedding each week.
I already received a donation for laundry detergent, but we need softener and dryer sheets too. When their beddings come out of the dryer they are balled up because they are so very staticky. The children have a hard time making their beds at rest time because of the static cling. I cannot afford to buy these recourses on my own any more so I am reaching out for help. I am requesting a donation of free and gentle fabric softener and dryer sheets for all the classrooms in the school to use to wash their sheets once a week.
