My Students

I teach Special Needs students in for multiple grade levels at a Title 1 School District. One hundred percent of our student population receives free and reduced lunch. My students need hands on material to help them reach grade level. Every day they work very hard to reach their IEP goals.

My students are eager to learn and be creative every day.

They are sweet, respectful, responsible, happy and curious students who love to explore the endless possibilities in our classroom.

They are amazing kids that deserve the best education. I feel blessed to teach such an amazing group of students.

My Project

I want to begin now to instill the importance of financial literacy in my students lives so that it will continue throughout their entire life. They have the opportunity to earn classroom bucks for their behavior, attendance, participation in class, turning in homework, making good grades on specific assignments, and solving math problems. We need these supplies for our classroom store to help promote counting money as well as adding and subtracting skills. The students will help me decide on reasonable prices for the snap brackets, planes, fidget spinners, etc. I believe my students should play a role in helping to decide the cost of the items, and where in the room to set up our store on Fridays.

My Star Scholars need to know the advantages of having good money managing skills because it is an essential component in life.

When spending their hard earned bucks at the class store, my students will need to know how to total up the cost of the items they are planning to buy or make a decision to save up for an item that cost more. They will be able to figure out how much more they need to save to purchase a wanted item from the store. They will be doing lots of adding and subtracting when it is their opportunity to go shopping at the classroom store. These are two important skills that second graders need to be able to do well. I just know my students will work even harder to earn bucks to spend at the classroom store and also keep up with how much they earn during the week.
