My Students
My students are highly motivated to learn. They are predominantly ESOL students who enjoy reading, but need additional support to reach their full potential. Our school is a Title I school. The majority of the students are from low income families, many of whom are also from Hispanic backgrounds.
The children are eager to learn and they know I want the best for them and expect their best effort.
They share this passion for learning and set high standards for themselves as well.
My Project
With increasing emphasis being placed on students having actual experiences with scientific content, critical thinking, and needing to complete performance assessments. The lasers, mirrors, and lenses will help my students gain an understanding of how light travels and interacts with a variety of material.
Ultimately they will use the equipment to create a device to send a message out of the classroom and down the hall using light.
The tuning forks will allow students to interact with sound and draw conclusions about what characteristics of the tuning forks create the difference in the sounds they produce. They will use this knowledge to create musical instruments that will play multiple pitches.
