“Eye” Clearly See Glassware Drying on the “Racks”

Help me give my students proper protective equipment that protects their eyes during lab experimentations and the drying racks to hold and dry their self-cleaned lab glassware such as beakers and test tubes.

My Project

It’s finally time to replace our classroom set of safety goggles and add several glass drying racks to help speed up cleanup between lab periods. In my chemistry classes, we discuss lab safety every day during our daily check-ins. We focus on one safety rule at a time and work to recall them whenever students are actively engaged in experimentation. We also emphasize the importance of maintaining a tidy lab workspace. After all experiments are completed, cleanup is always the final step.

Careful cleaning of glassware is essential, but without proper drying racks, it becomes more difficult to prevent breakage or glassware rolling off the lab benches.

Strategically placing new drying racks throughout the lab will help minimize that safety risk. These racks will serve two important purposes: promoting safety and improving efficiency during cleanup.
