My Project
As much as my students enjoy singing, moving, and composing, what they love best is playing instruments! In our music classroom, xylophones are used for a variety of things, including accompanying singing, playing basic melodies, and learning the basics of improvisation and composing. To maximize our limited class time, things work best when every child can play at the same time.
This soprano xylophone will bring us closer to having an instrument available to each student.
Students in kindergarten and first grade will use it to practice playing the steady beat and explore melodic direction. As students get older, they will play accompaniments for singing and games, and for multi-instrument ensemble pieces. Students will also compose melodies for spoken phrases of poetry, rhymes, and creations of their own!
