This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in an elementary school that is part of a large school district. My students are enthusiastic learners. Each student has a diverse background with diverse needs in the areas of reading, writing and math. Due to their diverse needs my students are eligible for special education services and are provided services in their areas of unique needs. My students are very excited to learn new concepts along with developing their abilities in their specific areas of need.

There is a buzz about needing more tables in our classroom.

Students are provided with many opportunities to discuss what they are reading and writing in small groups, cooperative learning groups with peers. The more space available for students, the greater the experience of learning becomes.

My Project

I would like to ask for a kidney table for my special education students in grades 1-6. The use of a kidney table will ensure my students are provided with many opportunities to discuss what they are reading and writing in small groups along with collaborating with peers when possible. I feel the kidney table will be a worthwhile tool to help my students with the learning process. It will offer the students extra space as well as seating they are familiar with. The more space available for students, the greater the experience of learning becomes. The use of similear seatings are necessary to help develop a sense of independence and being comfortable are necessary to help develop important academic skills children need to engage in the learning process. I can utilize the kidney table to help motivate my students to their fullest learning potential.
