This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work in a very high needs school in the Bronx. We have limited access to learning tools and books. I am looking for ways to make learning more accessible to my students. My students are in an Integrated Co-Teaching classroom. They are an exciting group of mixed interest, abilities, and goals. Some of my students are reading above their grade level and others are struggling to sound out words and make meaning of what they are reading. My goal as a teacher is to meet students where they are and motivate them to go above and beyond.
These projects will allow me to bring exciting and educational projects to the families in our school community to foster the love of learning and expose them to new ideas.
With your help, I can make my students more well rounded.
My Project
These books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy. They complete work there, and they read independently! Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.
With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own level.
They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
