My Project
At the end of last school year, I set a goal to erase this question from may classroom during 2024-2025: Has anyone ever noticed that we hardly ever learn social studies? Usually, I hear this question around January of every year. It is already April and guess what...
Absolutely noone, has said the dreaded question!
Plus, our reading for information test scores are soaring higher than ever this year too!
How did I erase that question? With a subscription to Studies Weekly. This publication is approved by the state department of instruction as an aligned curriculum. Thanks to Donorschoose, students have both a digital subscription and their own physical newspapers for an offline alternative that they enjoy with their learning coaches in their homes.
Reading from these physical newspapers has replaced the dreaded question about why we don’t learn social studies with exclamations of curiosity, understanding, and awareness. Now, we need to keep the momentum going for another year. My students and I appreciate your consideration as we strive to "fill the shelf" with these social studies reading materials.
