My Project

Books are a necessity in all grades, but specifically in the lower grades, they are so important for student growth.

100% of my first graders are new to the country and many do not speak English as their first language.

It is my goal to provide books for my students that are engaging and also provide students with a message that they can learn from and connect to.

Piggy Elephant books do just that. They are engaging for students and are just the right level for my students who are just starting to learn how to read. For my lower students, the write-and-wipe books will provide an engaging way for my students to practice their skills. Due to the nature of these books, they will be able to be used for years to come. Lastly, the Jory John books are great for a read-aloud where I want to project a message for my students to learn about.
