Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We have a class full of students who love to learn and read. They absorb everything like little sponges. Our school is in a low income neighborhood and many of the students receive reduced or free lunch. This does not stop them and most of the children are reading already! They are eager to try different strategies to help them read more challenging books. They have read almost every independent reading book we have in the classroom and they are striving to read more.

My Project

My students need books,First Little Readers -Complete Library. The books will be read at school and brought home so our students can read to their families. These books will impact not just the 25 students in our classroom, but their families as well. The students will have the opportunity to take the books home and read them to their parents, siblings, and even grandparents. It will help make the home/ school connection even stronger. The students will be able to practice the reading strategies they learned in class with someone in the comfort of their own home. These new books will help motivate even the most struggling students because they will see something new and want to read it. It might just look like a book to us but a child sees it as an opportunity to learn.
