My Students
I am a special education teacher in a Title I School District. What does this mean? Just about 95% of our students qualify for free or reduced price lunches. Most of the students have seen more in their short years of life than most people will experience in a lifetime.
Despite the difficulties these children face on a daily basis, they are resilient.
These kids are some of the most hard-working, determined children I have ever met.
"A child with special needs will inspire you to be a special kind of person," anonymous.
My Project
Many of my students are performing below grade level, especially in literacy. My students need rich pieces of informational text to help to build their background knowledge and skills in literacy.
These informational magazines will be a great asset to our classroom!
Students will be able to utilize these magazines in m any different ways in our class. They will have access to informational text across all subjects during their independent reading time. These magazines will also be great additions to our small group instruction and guided reading groups. Students will be able to use these resources during guided reading in order to gain new skills
Nearly all students from low‑income households
