This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are Amazing. They come to school everyday ready to learn. They love Social Studies because we "travel" around the world in our classroom. We learn about the American Government in which we hold elections for classroom jobs. We travel to Ancient China, Ancient Greece and Chicago to learn about the life and government of each place.
My students come in everyday and ask " Where are we traveling to next?" I am lucky to work with such amazing students that come to school eager to learn despite what goes on in the neighborhood.
Our school is a pre-k to 4th grade building that helps prepare students to be college and career ready.
We strive to help our students get the best education possible.
My Project
My students are always extremely excited about Social Studies. Our entire year focuses on the government of the United States, China (past and present) and Greece. My students would benefit from updated materials that cover our topics.
My students not only learn about the structure of government, but also participate in an election process for each of the jobs in my classroom.
The jobs reflect those similar to jobs in the government such as President, Vice President, Secretary of State etc. They do research projects on Presidents, write speeches for the job they want to be elected to as well as comparing a contrasting different governments. They are third graders becoming well informed citizens of the future. I plan to use all the materials to help bring my social studies curriculum to life!
