Help me give my students access to Scholastic News. These subscriptions come with the printed copies as well as online access - which would be incredibly helpful during distance learning.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My third graders come from very different homes with very different experiences. Whether they are native Swahili, Burmese, Spanish, Vietnamese, or English speakers, they all bring something distinctly beautiful to our classroom. Despite their cultural differences, we come together in our little classroom community to do great things! 97% of the families at our school qualify for the free and reduced-price lunch program. You won’t see their socioeconomic status holding them back! Their thirst for knowledge has helped them move mountains! I love seeing my students (current and former) change the world around them!
My Project
Scholastic News is used weekly in classrooms all around the world! This award-winning magazine exposes children to current events in a friendly format. This magazine uses high-quality photos and grade-level appropriate text to keep students engaged.
I would like to provide each student with a weekly Scholastic News magazine to give them the opportunity to read about and comprehend current events - both in print and online.
While we are learning online, they will have access to virtual magazines, along with activities to support and extend their reading. Once we come back to in-person learning, they will be able to take a collection of magazines home!
Thanks to our amazing Donors last year, my students enjoyed weekly Scholastic News magazines. They were always excited to read the topics and do the supporting activities. We continued to read online at the end of the school year and saw how Scholastic was able to make the magazines come alive in a virtual format. I can't wait to share this experience with my kids this year.
