My Students

My students live in Greenville County which is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. These students have an appetite for learning, and I want to help foster that into lifelong learners.

Our school represents over 55 different countries with a variety of cultural backgrounds.

I want to create a classroom environment of acceptance and mutual respect for each other. These students want to learn and desire to excel in every aspect of student life. Therefore, having a variety of learning opportunities will greatly assist them in their educational journey. These students are more than worth the investment!

My Project

Reading magazine articles allows students to build their reading stamina (ability to read for longer periods of time). TIME For Kids contains articles that are short but capture the attention of students quickly!

Let's write about it too!

In addition to reading magazines articles we are going to make independent reading moments into teachable moments too! Students will be engaged with their reading and won't realize that they are learning so much more. For example, I can review different reading strategies using articles that they had just read about through the week on the flip chart paper. These become our anchor charts that we reference all year.
