it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
"Read this, then answer the following questions". Many students hear and easily follow these directions daily. However, many students struggle to read and write–some more than others. While the ideas in texts stretch all students’ critical thinking, multilingual students must navigate language differences. Now, imagine a multilingual high school student who has never been taught the alphabet in their native or second language. This student will continuously struggle with their assignments because of both the language and literacy barrier. Technology tools will help students. With Mote, students make voice notes that can be translated. Having unlimited access Mote will allow students with multiple classes to listen or respond to as many assignments as they receive.
By donating to my project, you will help students gain access to just-in-time literacy; ultimately, you will be helping to increase their academic potential.
The audio pen will allow students to class lecture notes. The microphone headphones will be used to create and listen to audio information. With these tools, students will be able to focus on the concepts, strategies, and critical thinking, and not on the fact that they are learning to read and write at a different pace than they are learning to think and create. It takes time to learn the language skills necessary to read and write with clarity and style. But, all students should be afforded the tools to respond using their current knowledge and skills. With your generous donation, this technology will help me meet students where they are and help them get where they want to go.
