My Project
Hello!
My name is Ms. Crockett, and I am a 6th grade science teacher in Baltimore City!
We are a multi-cultural, and full inclusion school. My students have various academic and cognitive backgrounds, and the items that are on my list will help in a major way-- specifically with organization, and helping to keep my multi-sensory students comfortable and calm. The noise cancellation headphones will help my students who are sensitive to loud noises, not just in the classroom, but in places such as the cafeteria, and recess areas as well.
With a functional pencil sharpener, my classes won't have to spend time asking each other for pencil sharpeners, and we can use it as part of our daily routine. As a science teacher, having clear bins will greatly help with organization of materials and supplies, so that my students and I do not have to spend 30- 40 minutes, going through cardboard boxes to see the contents in them. Also, more than half of my students need texts read to them. With a class set of headphones, students will be able to have a more to spend on comprehending a reading, by having access to audio versions of texts.
I know that these materials may seem frivolous to many people, however, as a city teacher, these materials will enable my students to avoid all problems of distraction and disorganization, and focus on increasing their learning!
