My Students

I have the honor of teaching 29 fabulous 1st graders in Brooklyn, New York. My students come from a Title 1 low-income school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple, clean, and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.

From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me.

I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hoping to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.

My Project

A Cricut can and will make huge difference in our classroom. It will help us make stunning art projects and allow my students to take more ownership of the classroom by having them make student labels, label student bins, tubs, backpacks and reading bags using heat vinyl transfers. The students can design everything and problem solve using the Cricut. A Cricut will allow us to decorate my classroom in a very inviting way. With this Cricut machine and vinyl, students will be able to explore with different shapes and designs (making math, science and technology a hands-on project), and create things they never knew were possible.

In addition, this Cricut machine will allow me to create everlasting gifts for my students to enjoy during holidays, birthdays and many more celebrations!
