This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Hello, Thank you for visiting my project. Last year I taught Second grade to some remarkable students at the School of Science and Technology Charter School , a Title I school in Houston, TX. Most of my students come from low socioeconomic status, but it is a status that does not define them.

My students are very smart, curious and eager to learn about how the world around them works.

They love to have fun in the classroom with hands-on activities. This school year I will be teaching Third grade! I am so excited to move up a grade up with my students. This will allow me to be more aware of each students weakness, but also be able to build upon even more on their strengths from Second grade going into Third grade.

My Project

Third grade begins with new adventures in reading and writing. I believe that by having access to Fiction and Non-fiction reading passages and comprehension card materials that are relevant to my students will boost their reading levels. The Crack the Case inferring cards will allow students to have fun while learning how to apply those inferring strategies to tackle STAAR. The Read and Respond cards included in the bundle will allow students to write text summaries using evidence from the text. I believe that these resources along with recognized reading strategies will help my students, the leaders of tomorrow, tackle rigorous texts.
