Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Come from diverse cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds making our classroom a very lively place to be!
About 70% of my students are learning English as a second language.
Our school is comprised of families who sit at or below the poverty level, and who are receiving a free breakfast and free/reduced lunch.
Despite some of they hardships they may encounter, my students come to class each day excited to play, learn, and be with their friends. They are resilient, motivated, and excited about school!
My Project
Having access to different kinds/types of paper, tape, pom-poms, foam shapes, beads, buttons, play-doh, googly eyes, and pipe cleaners will provide my students the means to express themselves creatively however they so choose! They will be able to create what they want, how they want to do it, on their terms.
This will empower peer-peer communication , as well as adult child communication as they will no doubt want to share what they have made!
These art supplies will help my students not only learn to express themselves in a new way, but will help them learn to communicate their ideas with their friends and teachers!
