Help me give my students journals, self-assessment mini flip charts, canvases, watercolor paints, and more, needed to promote self-expression and social emotional learning.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our resource classroom consists of students who are determined to learn and strive for success. They are interested in "typical" teenage interests such as Cobra Kai, basketball, Instagram, Tik-Tok, and Takis. Oh, and we can't forget Korean dramas!
Our students represent different cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds.
As a class, the students face challenges accessing the grade-level curriculum without sufficient supports and resources. These students require differentiated instruction and always put forth their best effort! Whether it's games like Kahoot or our Friday Community Circles, these students are present and deserve the opportunity to be successful.
My Project
For this project, I am asking for supplies to support students in discovering and exploring social emotional learning. These materials will allow students to begin to journal, write entries, color, and learn about social-emotional skills. With the journals, students will have the opportunity to pause and reflect before engaging in discussion. The art supplies, including canvases, watercolor paints, and more, will give the students an opportunity to express themselves or respond to discussion in an alternative format.
Students learn from interactive activities that are meaningful to them, so let's create social-emotional learning activities that are meaningful!
Lastly, the Green/Yellow/Red cards will introduce the students to self-advocacy. Students will be able to take inventory of their needs and express the need for help.
