Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I have the honor of teaching an amazing group of Little Scholar's. They are great thinkers, creative, resilient and full of love. When asked what do they miss about school that we aren't doing online? A majority mentioned art and music.

Adapting to distanced learning has been a challenge for some of my students because they miss their ancillary classes.

For preschoolers, arts are just important as reading and math. They are learning to identify their emotions and develop self control. The arts offer students a creative outlet to express themselves.

My Project

I teach a bright and talented group of preschoolers. I try to increase their motivation in all subjects by making learning fun. I encourage them to speak up because their voices matter. Help reinforce this by granting them developmentally appropriate art supplies they requested to express themselves! The arts give kids freedom to try different ways of doing something, figure out how things work, ask questions and make connections. So they’re not just learning, they’re learning how to think.

With their creative ideas and these fun art supplies, students will be able to make connections between how they are feeling and ways they can express emotions through art.
