Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Over 50 percent of our first graders are working on the challenge of mastering English as their second language. Most of our students qualify for free or reduced price meals. In all of my years of teaching, this class holds the record for the number of students who have suffered a traumatic loss in the past year.
These precious children are so full of potential!
They enter our room every day eager to learn. They're engaged, enthusiastic, and ready to have fun!
Reminders trigger tears every week, but these compassionate children support and care for each other. They're not waiting for some elusive future "one day" to change their world.
My Project
The puppet stage and puppets will allow all of my students to express themselves and practice their speaking and language skills in a fun and engaging way. One of our English Learners spoke more in two minutes behind our cardboard (and prone to falling) puppet stage than he did the rest of the day!
Please help us purchase this quality puppet theater and puppets so that we can make this fun learning activity even more exciting!
