Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a special day class with 15 Kinder-2nd graders. I have students with a wide range of disabilities and they are kinesthetic learners. They are kinesthetic learners and benefit from multi-modality forms of learning to stay engaged and motivated to learn.
All of my students love art and we use art because we get to use may different tools to create.
We use art during phonics, math, science and STEM activities because it would be a fun and engaging way for my students to learn skills. Many of my students have occupational therapy services and have difficulties with writing or gripping a pencil, so with having different tools to write with, they will be more engaged and get the practice they need to develop those fine motor skills.
If we can get the art supplies, we can add more engaging tools and materials to our phonics centers, math centers, STEM activities and art. This will also help them work collaboratively and build language in centers.
