This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My special education class consists of students ranging from preschool to 2nd grade. They are all diverse children that have specific needs and interests, all the while sharing an excitement to come to school every day and participate in the engaging lessons I have planned for them! My students all come from challenging socio-economic backgrounds, and I would like to be able to provide them with the necessary equipment and support that they need. Our school is a large elementary school with a very supportive Special Education team, who want to provide students with the resources to achieve the best, both academically and socially! Unfortunately, our resources are limited and we do not always have the funds to provide all materials.

My Project

These materials will help me make our Zoom sessions dedicated to English development interactive and fun for all of my students! The sorting activities can be used in a game-like manner so that students create sentences to express where different items belong or how to compare objects to each other. Another sorting game will allow me to provide grasping to my students who received occupational therapy and need to practice their fine motor skills. I have also provided my students with whiteboards, which they can use to practice writing skills and math skills, but the markers from this project will ensure that my students have back-up markers, which they will need after using them often.
