Help me give my students an opportunity to learn about and experiment with the art of printmaking.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Toller's classroom raised $570
This project is fully funded
My Students
My students are young, energetic and enthusiastic about making Art. They are a multiculturally diverse group of students coming from economically disadvantaged settings. Art time gives my students an opportunity to convey their thoughts and ideas, experiment with materials and discover for themselves how to express a sense of self.
My Project
This year in the Art room students will be learning about the printmaker Dox Thrash, his art and the technique that he invented. Students will learn how to create a printing plate using carborundum gel and experiment with several different printing techniques.
My students will also explore the many ways that they express who they are and how they can channel that expression into art making.
Students will develop drawings and collages of themselves and the times/places that are important to them. They will choose several of their drawings or collages to transfer onto a printing plate. and then they will experiment with a printmaking process.
The inks and printmaking paper are essential to the success of this project.
