Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
At our school, we have been doing the Hour of Code for the last twelve years to introduce all our young scholars/engineers to the joys of solving problems with code.
We usually offer 20 coding challenges to earn the highest prizes, but this year we plan to expand the challenges of coding to all scholars in the high schools in our campus.
In order to reward our young coding engineers we are asking you to please help us get the snacks in our cart to offer as prizes to each scholars that completes at least one task. The Hour of Code has helped us build a very strong computer science program at out small school (300 students).
We now offer Intro to CS: HTML and game design, AP computer science principles and First Tech Challenge robotics: a robotics competition for students in grades 7-12 where teams design, build, and program robots to compete in an alliance-based format, fostering STEM skills, teamwork, and problem-solving.
Finally, we design the challenges to be accountable, secure and easy to access by using the NYC DOE accounts. We also offer the option for parents/care takers to do the challenges along with their children.
