Thanks to your generous donations we extended the HOC to the other two schools, led by student-teachers that taught them how to do the HOC.\r\n\r\nThe main objective was very successfully completed because many students completed all the twenty challenges to earn the prizes, that is over 20 hours of coding.\r\n\r\nWe established a culture where coding is done by all and we were also able to showcase that our 11th graders taking AP Computer Science principles design and code over seven Apps that work on any phone. With this project, we wanted to ensure that during the mental health group sessions, we could provide snacks for students who stop by the counselor's office for their weekly meetings and counseling sessions. Nutrition is the cornerstone of the classroom, as students need to have full bellies before they can fully engage in their group sessions. The students were so excited when they saw all the snacks, the light that was on their faces was absolutely priceless. \r\n\r\nI try to make things fun for them every once in a while by playing college/career trivia or jeopardy. Thanks to your wonderful donation, this time when they played jeopardy they would actually win something with the materials (snacks) provided by you all. It was so heartwarming seeing them be so engaged and competitive. At times it's difficult to keep their hopes up due to the overwhelming factor of college applications, stress of personal lives and more so this was such a nice pick-me up for them. \r\n\r\nNow that the materials are finished the students sometimes would come to me asking if we can play jeopardy for some prizes. I have given prizes out of pocket but I will try to find other incentives for them just to keep their hopes up through this stressful transition in their lives. Moving forward I am going to offer incentives for students who complete their FAFSA and College applications and use it as a way to encourage other students to complete theirs as well\r\n\r\nI would like to extend my deepest thank you!
