Exploring with Technology

My students need iPads to help enhance their learning and provide them with the ability to do research projects in the classroom. They would help with writing project as well as social studies and science projects.

My Students

Our school is as diverse as they come. People from all around the world come to our neighborhood in Brooklyn to provide a better life and education for their children. The students I teach are Russian, Asian, Middle Eastern, American, Hispanic, African American, etc.

We are a Title I school.

Fundraisers and grants are the only way we are able to provide the students with a well rounded education. Students need multiple resources to enhance their diverse learning styles.

The students are from ages 7-9 and need more experience with technology than they are currently exposed to. Many students do not have access outside of school to learn necessary skills and enhance their abilities in a world that relies on being technology savvy.

My Project

Students will use the iPads during research writing projects. We do studies on animals and countries around the world. It would provide students opportunities to find information from multiple sources. They will also use iPads to support content based learning in Science and Social Studies. They will be able to create blogs to talk to one another about the topics they are studying.

The iPads will also be used during Reading and Math giving students multiple opportunities to use them for different facets.

They will have different math apps to keep them engaged during Math choice time. Also, I like to provide students with different types of reading materials and the iPads would provide more non-fiction choices during independent reading time.
