Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every morning, our diverse student body comes to school early so they can receive a free breakfast to start their day off right. 100% of our students qualify for a free lunch. Our independent and mature students get themselves and often younger siblings out the door and to school on time. Although this area of San Diego is known by some for the gangs and crime, it is filled with hard working families and smart students.
During STEM Friday, students will have time to explore and innovate with a variety of materials, including an Ozobot.

My Project
Students will work in small collaborative groups to develop a strong understanding of coding using the Ozobots. They will have the opportunity to be innovative while exploring relationships between science and technology. Students will rotate through a station with the Ozobots and can use codes other students have written or design their own. They will use problem solving skills and work together to create successful code. In addition, students will create their own nonfiction stories and use the Ozobots as characters in the stories. This will help the become better nonfiction story tellers and writers. These Ozobots will be a valuable resource for my budding innovators.
