My Project
Our kindergarten students are curious, creative, and full of questions about the world around them. To help them dive deeper into two fascinating topics—weather and whales—we need your support for some engaging and educational supplies that will make these lessons come to life!
Weather Exploration with Paper Dolls & Puzzles
Kindergarten students have been collecting and analyzing weather data, a skill that will help them better understand the world. To enhance this learning, we’re asking for supplies like paper dolls, puzzles, stamps, and other hands-on materials. These items will give students a fun, interactive way to analyze the weather through dress their dolls according to the forecast, and programming them to interact with the weather using the Kibo. Also, engaging with weather data through bracelet making and stamp art. By integrating these tools, we hope to foster critical thinking and encourage students to make connections between what they observe in nature and what they learn in class.
Whale Wonders with 52 Hertz Whale Project and Song for A Whale
In partnership with other kindergarten classes, we plan to explore the mystery of the 52 Hertz whale—the loneliest whale in the world, whose unique call is not heard by other whales. Based on the inspiring book, The Lonely Whale: The Search for 52, we’ll provide students with the opportunity to create their own whale robots, explore 52 hertz sounds, and discuss how these whales communicate in a world that’s so different from our own. This interdisciplinary project will tie together with the Zanetti reads school wide of "Song for a whale", while teaching students about empathy, conservation, robotics, the oceans, and the wonders of the natural world.
